Congratulations to the Ellsworth Boys and Girls Swim Teams who were both recognized as All America National Scholar Teams by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA)

The Girls team was awarded the GOLD Award for a team academic average GPA of 3.805 for the season.

The Boys team was awarded the SILVER Award for a team academic average GPA of 3.701 for the season.

The award is calculated by adding up GPA’s of the entire team and dividing by the number of team members and then submitting the application to NISCA for consideration.  The Teams not only had a great swimming season, but also a great academic effort to achieve this honored designation for their team and Ellsworth High School.  A minimum of 12 team members must be on the team to qualify for the award.

The National Scholar Team Award has three levels:

  • Bronze:  3.200 to 3.499
  • Silver: 3.500 to 3.749
  • Gold: 3.750 to 4.00

In addition, Sam Pelletier, Carter Frank and Miriam Nelson earned Academic All American status by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA):

To qualify, these graduating student athletes and swimmers needed to achieve a 3.75 average GPA or better over the last seven semesters of their high school tenure.

Thanks to Coach Jim Goodman for the information
