EHS Students Advance to National History Day Competition Finals in Maryland

Congratulations to Ellsworth High School students Miriam Nelson and Caitlin MacPherson  who won the Gold Medal in the Maine State National History Day competition on Saturday, April 27th at the Margaret Chase Smith Library.

The 2 will now represent Maine at the 2019 National Contest which will be held June 9-13 at the University of Maryland, College Park.  This year's theme is Triumph and Tragedy in History.

Nelson and MacPherson competed in the group exhibit competition, where they had to put research highlights on a trifold board and were then interviewed extensively by three Maine historians on their topic. They chose to research the Underground Railroad in Maine.
