Don't doubt the power of the Ellsworth Softball Team's rally caps! Ellsworth was trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the 5th before the Eagles donned the rally caps and scored 6 runs to take a 10-7 lead!

In the 5th inning Trinity Montigny started the rally, bunting for a single. Montigny stole 2nd base and Katelynn Bagley hit a single, moving Montigny to 3rd. Hannah Sargent worked a walk, loading the bases with no one out! Mariah Young hit a fly to deep center, scoring Montigny to make the score 7-5. Katie Hammer walked, to reload the bases. Shelby Cote hit a double, scoring both Sargent and Hammer. Ellie Clarke then tripled, scoring Cote. Stevens then scored on an error by the Nokomis shortstop to make the score 10-7.

In the bottom of the 6th, Ellsworth scored 4 more runs, and the Eagles would need every run, as Nokomis scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning. But, Nokomis made their 1st out when the runner was called out for not tagging up. Then Nokomis' Herrick was thrown out at the plate for the 2nd out by Callie Hammer, and Allard struck out for the final out.

Mackenzie Chipman pitched a complete game for Ellsworth, allowing 12 hits, striking out 5 and walking 1 for the win.

Ellsworth, now 11-6 will travel to Gardiner to take on the top seeded Gardiner Tigers in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
