The Ellsworth Softball Team lost to Hermon Monday afternoon, May 8th 25-11, despite leading 11-8 going into the 7th inning. The Hawks scored 17 runs in the top of the 7th through a combination of walks and errors. Ellsworth will have a chance to rebound from this tough loss on Wednesday in Dover Foxcroft when they play the Foxcroft Academy Ponies.

Hermon led 3-0 going into the bottom of the 2nd inning, when Ellsworth exploded for 9 runs as they batted around. Mariah Young walked to start off the inning, then Katie Hammer and Callie Hammer both singled to load the bases.  Ellie Clarke had a sacrifice fly to deep left driving in Young.  Shelby Cote had a single to right center driving in the Hammer sisters. Trinity Montigny got on base with a bunt down the 3rd base line moving Cote along. Leah Stevens then walked to load the bases. Katelynn Bagley delivered with a double to right center scoring Cote and Montigny. Hannah Sargent earned an RBI on a sacrifice fly for the 2nd out of the inning. Batting for the second time. Mariah Young hit a single driving in a run. Both Callie and Katie Hammer both earned RBIs  during their 2nd at bat in the 2nd inning.

Ellsworth scored their final 2 runs of the game in the bottom of the 6th inning when Callie Hammer drove in Katelynn Bagley and Hannah Sargent.

Hermon is now unbeaten at 7-0 and will play host to John Bapst on Tuesday, May 9th at 4:30 PM.
