EHS JV Boys Defeat MDI JV White 51-40 to Advance to Hancock County Finals [STATS/RECAP]

The Ellsworth JV Boys Basketball Team defeated the MDI JV White Team 51-40 Wednesday afternoon, March 3rd in Bar Harbor to advance to the Hancock County JV Boys Basketball Championships Thursday, March 4th at 7 p.m.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 19-7 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. They pounded the ball into Craig Burnett in the paint. Burnett finished the Quarter with 8 points. Logan McGowan had 6 points. Drew Cote had a 3-pointer and Brady Kenney had 2 points. For MDI Jack White had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Shane Lumbatis had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Ellsworth 13-7 to cut the lead to 26-20 at the end of the 1st Half. Tucker James had 5 points to pace MDI with a 3-pointer and Joey Minutolo had 4 points. Jack White and Aiden Grant each had 2 points. For Ellsworth Burnett had 5 points and Brady Kenney had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored MDI 16-9 to increase their lead to 42-29 going into the final Quarter. Again Ellsworth went to Burnett inside and he had 7 points. Kenney had 5 points and Logan McGowan and Dylan Pung each had a basket. For MDI Joey Minutolo had 4 points, Jack White 3 points and Camden Barker 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Craig Burnett had 4 points as did Logan McGowan for Ellsworth while Ethan LeClerc was 1-2 from the free throw line. For MDI, Minutolo had 4 points, Jay Haney drained a 3-pointer and Jack White and Aiden Grant had 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Craig Burnett with a game high 24 points while Logan McGowan had 12 points. The Eagles were 4-12 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Jack White and Joey Minutolo who each finished with 12 points. The Trojans were 3-6 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth will play the MDI Green Team in the Hancock County Championships Thursday night, March 4th at 7 p.m. The game will be live-streamed on the Ellsworth High School You Tube Channel.
