According to the University of Maine Presque Isle press release on Monday, May 18th, Ellsworth High School's Javen Clarke will be heading up north to play soccer for the UMPI Owls.

According to the release

Clarke was a 3-year varsity starting goal Keeper and captain for Ellsworth High School . "Javen's work ethic and commitment to his team earned him the respect of both his teammates and coaching staff. " Clarke's high school soccer coach Paul Lock stated, "Javen is a very focused and hardworking player on and off the field.  He was a team leader for us and his efforts in goal saved many games for us during his high school career." Clarke also played 6 years of Club soccer for Black Bear United and the Acadia Fire Soccer Club.

Clarke plans to study Physical Education at UMPI and hopes to become a physical education teacher and coach following graduation.  When asked about coming to UMPI to play soccer for the Owls this fall Clarke stated, "I am excited to play for Coach Gordon.  I enjoyed the philosophy he shared with me on both soccer and life.  UMPI's small college atmosphere and Physical Education program are exactly what I was looking for in a college."
