EHS Girls Down Caribou 53-43

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team used a patient offense to beat the Caribou Vikings on Monday, January 2nd for their 2nd win of the season at Katsiaficas Gymnasium, 53-43.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 12-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Trinity Montigny had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Hannah Sargent had a 3-pointer and Katelynn Bagley had 2 points for the Ellsworth Eagles. For Caribou Rachel Soucy had 7 points including a 3-pointer while Gabrielle Marquis was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Caribou 19-16 to take a 31-24 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Sammy Mason had 9 points for Ellsworth including a 3-pointer. Sargent had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Bagley had 3 points and Callie Hammer had 2 points for the Eagles. For Caribou Marquis had 9 points including a 3-pointer and Kimberlee Susi had 7 points including a 3-pointer.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth outscored Caribou 14-4 to take a 45-28 lead. Montigny had 8 points for Ellsworth including 2 3-pointers, Bagley had 4 points and Sargent had 2 points for the Eagles. For the Vikings Marquis had 2 points and Soucy was 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter, Caribou outscored Ellsworth 15-8, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Madison Doucette had 8 points including a 3-pointer, Marquis had 4 points with 1 3-pointer, and Madison Stratton had a 3-pointer for the Vikings. For Ellsworth Sargent had 5 points , Montigny had 2 points and Bagley had 2 points for the Eagles.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny and Hannah Sargent each with 16 points and Katelynn Bagley and Sammy Mason each had 11 points. Ellsworth was 6-9 from the free throw line.

Caribou was led by Gabrielle Marquis with 16 points and Rachel Soucy had 9 points.

Ellsworth is now 2-5 and will play at MDI on Wednesday, January 4th at 7 PM with the pregame starting at 6:30 on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Caribou is 1-6 and plays host to Fort Kent on Thursday, January 5th at 7 PM.
