EHS Completes the Sweep Beats Old Town 4-1 Saturday
The Ellsworth Eagles Baseball Team improved to 12-1 on the season after beating the Old Town Coyotes in Ellsworth Saturday afternoon, May 19th, 4-1.The Eagles are in 1st place in the Class B Heal Point Standings with 3 games remaining in the regular season.
Conner Wagstaff pitched a complete game for the Eagles for the win. He allowed 3 hits, striking out 11 and walking 3.
Old Town scored their lone run in the top of the 1st inning on 2 hits by Nick Swift and Nick Avery and a sacrifice fly by Brenden Gasaway. Old Town's lone other hit came in the 4th inning on a single by Ethan Hayes.
Brendon Gasaway pitched for the Coyotes. He gave up 4 hits, striking out 11 and walking 3.
Ellsworth scored in the 2nd inning when Jack Curtis singled and advanced to 2nd when Austin Baron reached on an error. Both runners advanced on a passed ball and then Curtis scored on a wild pitch.
In the bottom of the 3rd Ellsworth scored 2 more runs, both unearned. Bradly Smith reached on an error by the 2nd baseman and Jack Lee reached on an error. Jared Hamilton's single plated both Smith and Hamilton.
In the 4th inning Baron singled with 1 out, and stole 2nd and 3rd base. He scored on Tyler Mitchell's single.
Ellsworrth has 3 games remaining, at Bucksport on Tuesday, May 22nd at 4 PM, at home on Thursday, May 24th against Hermon at 4:30 PM and then the final regular senior game, Senior Recognition Day against MDI on Tuesday, May 29th at 4:30 PM.
