EHS Boys Surge Past PI in 4th Quarter Win 61-57 [Box Score]

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team was trailing 18-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter but kicked it into gear in the 2nd Half, outscoring Presque Isle 36-21 to defeat the Wildcats on Friday night, January 26th 61-57 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth.

Presque Isle led 17-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 36-25 at the end of the 1st Half. The Eagles cut the deficit to 6 trailing 51-45 after the 3rd Quarter and in the final quarter outscored Presque Isle 16-6 for the win.

Ellsworth was paced by Zach Harris with a game high 24 points. Jackson Curtis had 13 points. The Eagles were 9-16 from the free throw line and 4-10 from beyond the 3 point arc. Bradly Smith had 2 3-pointers as did Harris.

Presque Isle was led by Griffin Guerrette with 21 points. Jonah Hudson had 15 points. The Wildcats were 4-16 from beyond the 3-point arc and were 13-17 from the free throw line.

The win for Ellsworth means they are now 9-5 and have won 5 in a row. The Eagles play host to Caribou Saturday afternoon, January 27th at 2:30 PM.
