Eagles Open With a Win in Orono Beating the Red Riots 64-47 [Recap/Stats]

The Ellsworth Eagles Boys Basketball Team opened the 2017-18 Season with a 64-47 victory over the Red Riots in Orono on Saturday afternoon, December 9th. Zach Harris led all scorers with 35 points.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 20-13 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. In the Quarter, Harris had 10 points including 2 3-pointers. Jackson Curtis had 7 points including a 3-pointer and Sam Giffin drained a 3-pointer. For Orono Jonathan Steelman had 7 points with a 3-pointer, Connor Robertson had 4 points and Sam Martin had 2 points.

Ellsworth outscored Orono 15-11 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 35-24 lead at the end of the 1st Half. In the 2nd Quarter Harris had 7 points including a 3-pointe. Bradly Smith and Connor Crawford each had a 3-pointer and Curtis had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Orono, Jonny Spencer had 7 points and Steelman and Robertson each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Orono 17-12 to increase their lead to 52-36. in the Quarter Harris had 10 points, Curtis 5 points with a 3-pointer and Jared Hamilton had 2 points. For Orono Sam Martin had 7 points, Connor Robertson had 4 points and Spencer 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter for Ellsworth Harris chipped in 8 more points, and Hamilton and Curtis each had 2 points. For Orono Martin had 5 points, Zach Dill had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Spencer had 1 point.

Ellsworth was led by Zach Harris with a game high 35 points including 3 3-pointers. Jackson Curtis had 16 points with 2 3-pointers. Bradly Smith, Sam Giffin and Connor Crawford all had a 3-pointer. Ellsworth hit 8 3-pointers and were 8-9 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Sam Martin with 14 points, Connor Robertson had 10 points and Jonathan Steelman and Jonny Spencer each had 9 points. Steelman, Spencer and Zach Dill each had a 3-pointer for Orono. The Red Riots were 10-21 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth 1-0 plays host to Old Town on Tuesday, December 12th at 7PM..

Orono 0-1 plays host to Winslow on Saturday December 16th at 7PM.
