Eagles Knock Crusaders From the Ranks of the Unbeaten 43-34 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]

The Ellsworth Eagles came into the Cross Insurance Center decided underdogs, facing the unbeaten John Bapst Crusaders but no one told the Eagles and they shocked the Crusaders beating John Bapst 43-34 on Friday night, January 19, 2018.

John Bapst jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the 1st Quarter. Abbey Legasse had 2 3-pointers for 6 points for the Crusaders and Caleigh Lebel and Lacey Scanlon had 2 points each. For Ellsworth Trinity Montigny had 3 points and Kaitlynn Bagley had 1 point.

In the 2nd Quarter, Ellsworth took the lead with minutes left in the Quarter, outscoring John Bapst 16-5 to take a 21-15 lead at the end of the 1st Half, a lead they would never relinquish! Montigny had 8 points with a 3-pointer, Hannah Sargent had 6 points with a 3-pointer and Bagley added 2 points. For John Bapst, Gracie Phillippon had all of the Crusader's 5 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth outscored John Bapst 10-4 to take a 31-19 lead. Kayla Duhaime had 4 points, and Bagley, Montigny and Kylie Robidoux all chipped in with 2 points. Tiana Cyr and Crystal Bell each had 2 points for John Bapst.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth was 8-11 from the free throw line. Bagley had 6 points, going 4-4 from the free throw line. Montigny had 5 points going 3-5 from the free throw line and Sierra Andrews was 1-2 from the free throw line. For John Bapst Crystal Bell had 7 points, Caleigh Lebel had 4 points, and Phillippon and Tia Zephir each had 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with a game high 19 points. Katelynn Bagley had 11 points. The Eagles were 11-19 from the free throw line.

John Bapst was led by Crystal Bell with 9 points while Gracie Phillippon had 7 points. The Crusaders were 4-9 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth, now 7-4 will play host to Orono on Wednesday, January 24th at 7 PM.
