Eagles Beat Riots 29-21

Make it two in a row for the Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team as they traveled up to Orono on Thursday, January 12th and defeated the Orono Red Riots 29-21.

Ellsworth led 5-4 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Hannah Sargent drained a 3-pointer and Kacie Omlor added 2 points for the Eagles. Orono received 2 points each from Kassidy Dill and Emily Witham.

It was tied 11-11 at the half as Orono outscored Ellsworth 7-6 in the 2nd Quarter. Hannah Steelman had 3 points for Orono while Dill and Witham chipped in with 2 a piece. For Ellsworth Kaitlynn Bagley had 4 points while Sammy Mason had 2 points.

Ellsworth led 17-15 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Trinity Montigny, Bagley and Mason each had 2 points for the Eagles. For Orono, Lauren Melanson scored all of their points, putting in 4 points.

In the 4th Quarter for Ellsworth Montigny had 6 points, Bagley had 4 points, and Mason went 2-2 from the free throw line for the Eagles. For Orono Steelman had 3 points, Witham 2 points and Dill had 1 point.

Ellsworth was led by Kaitlynn Bagley with 10 points while Trinity Montigny had 8 points. The Eagles were 6-10 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Hannah Steelman and Emily Witham with 6 points each while Kassidy Dill had 5 points. The Red Riots were 3-9 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 4-6 and plays host to Houlton on Saturday, January 14th at 3 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Orono is 2-7 and travels to Presque Isle on Saturday, January 14th to play the Wildcats at 3 PM.
