Devers Homers Twice as Red Sox Shutout the Yankees 3-0 [VIDEO]
Rafael Devers homered twice Sunday night and Kutter Crawford was dominant on the mound as the Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 3-0 to take 2 out 3 in the weekend series.
Devers, who now has 21 homers on the season, hit a solo home run in the 7th inning.
Then added an insurance home run in the 9th inning.
Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 2-out solo home run in the 8th inning. It was his 11th of the season. He is the first Red Sox rookie with at least 50 RBI and 10 stolen bases before the All-Star break.
The Red Sox only had 6 hits. Devers was 3-4 and Dominic Smith was 2-3, with a double.
On the mound Kutter Crawford went 7.0 innings, allowing just 4 hits. He struck out 4 and didn't walk a batter. Picking up the win, he's 5-7 on the season. Justin Slaten pitched a hitless 8th inning, and Kenley Jansen, pitched a hitless 9th inning, for his 18th save of the season.
Boston is now in the 3rd Wild Card spot. They are a 1.5 games ahead of the Kansas City Royals and 1.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins, who are in the 2nd Wild Card Spot.
The Red Sox are off on Monday. They open a 6-game home stand on Tuesday with 3 games against the Oakland A's and then 3 games against the Kansas City Royals, before the All-Star break July 15-18.
Tuesday night's pregame starts at 6:10 with the 1st pitch at 7:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
