Crochet Strikes Out 9 in Final Spring Training Tune-up as Red Sox Beat Pirates 2-1

The Boston Red Sox beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 on Friday night, March 21st in Garrett Crochet's final Spring Training tune-up.

Crochet who is scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox on Opening Day on Thursday, March 27th at 4:05 p.m. went 5.1 scoreless innings allowing just 5 hits and striking out 9 while walking 2. Crochet has an ERA of 0.57 in Spring Training.

Adam Ottavino fighting for a bullpen spot picked up the win, pitching the 8th inning, striking out 2 without allowing a hit or walk. Cedanne Rafaela and Rob Refsnyder each drove in a run for the Red Sox

Pittsburgh outhit Boston 8-3.

The Red Sox will take on the Rays Saturday afternoon, March 23rd at 1 p.m. Catch that game, and the remaining Spring Training games and all 162 Regular Season games on AM 1370 WDEA.

Boston is planning on using Tanner Houck, Bryan Mata and Brennan Bernandino on the mound on Saturday.
