Connelly Early struck out 11, tying a Boston Red Sox franchise record as Boston beat the A's in Sacramento 6-0 on Tuesday, September 9th.

Early who pitched 5 innings picking up the win . He struck out 11, walked only 1 and allowed 5 hits. He tied Don Aase who struck out 11 in his debut in 1977.

Boston wasted no-time giving Early a lead when he made his debut. The Red Sox scored 4 times in the 1st inning.

Romy Gonzalez hit his 9th homer to lead-off the game. He went 2-2, hitting a double and homer, driving in 2 runs before he left the game with knee-soreness.

Rob Refsnyder hit his 8th homer, a 3-run blast in the 1st inning. It was Boston's longest homer of the season, going 463 feet. He was 2-5.

Jarren Duran and Carlos Narvaez each had a double.

Trevor Story stole his 28th base, and is a perfect 28-28 in stolen base attempts as he goes for the Major League record 30-30.

Boston is now 81-65. They are 3.0 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays with 16 games left to play. They are tied with the New York Yankees for the top Wild Card Spot.

Boston and the A's will play the final game of the 3-game series on Wednesday afternoon with the pregame starting at 2:35 on WDEA AM 1370.
