There's a reason to be cautiously optimistic after the Friday, October 16th's meeting between stakeholders regarding the upcoming Winter Sports Season.

But, this is not the time to let up on safety protocols. It's more important than ever that you continue to mask up, maintain social distancing, and sanitize your hands.

Here's the update from Gerry Durgin, Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrator's Association Executive Director

Friday, October 16, 2020, I was able to be a part of a zoom meeting that included the following: Representation from the Governor's office, Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services, Maine Principal's Association, Maine School Management Association and the Maine School Board Association. The goal of the meeting was to discuss Winter Sports. While no decision was made at this meeting, the process and the timeline in making a decision are at the forefront. It was a meeting of collaboration and cooperative thinking on how we move forward. We the MIAAA will continue to work with all agencies. No decision was made today. Please know I left the meeting with the optimism of some sort of winter season. I believe they all want to make a decision early in the process.
