Caribou Girls Upset MDI 67-56 [STATS/RECAP/BOX SCORE]

The MDI Girls traveled up to Caribou on Wednesday, December 27th and were upset by the Caribou Vikings 67-56. It was MDI's first loss of the season.

MDI led 19-18 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Hannah Chamberlain had 8 points with 2 3-pointers, Julia Watras had 4 points and Emily Banks, and Maddy Good had 2 points each. Rachelle Swanson had 1 point for MDI. For Caribou Searra Herbert had 7 points with a 3-pointer, Paige Espling had 4 points, Gabrielle Marquis had a 3-pointer and Alexis Rodriguez and Taylor LaBreck had 2 points each.

Caribou outscored MDI 15-11 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 33-30 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Marquis had 9 points with a 3-pointer, Kimmy Susi was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line and Rodriguez was 2-2 from the free throw line. At the end of the 1st Half, Caribou was 8-10 from the free throw line. In the 2nd Quarter for MDI ,Watras had 4 points, Alexis Clarito had 3 points and Candage and Rachelle Swanson added 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Caribou 19-12 to take a 49-45 lead. Watras had 8 points, Canadage 7 points, and Maddy Good had 4 points. For the Vikings Espling had 6 points, Herbert had 5 points with a 3-pointer, and Marquis had 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter, it was all Caribou, as they outscored MDI 22-7, going 11-14 from the free throw line.Susi had 8 points, Herbert 6 points, Espling 5 points and Marquis a 3-pointer. For MDI Clarito, Candage and Chamberlain had 2 points each with Watras adding 1 point.

MDI was led by Julia Watras with 17 points, Candage 13 points and Chamberlain 10 points. MDI was 12-22 from the free throw line.

Caribou was led by Searra Herbert with a game high 18 points, Gabrielle Marquis had 16 points, Paige Espling 15 points and Kimmy Susi 12 points. The Vikings were 20-26 from the free throw line

MDI now 4-1 will play at Presque Isle on Thursday December 28th at 1 PM in a game that will be heard on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device. The pregame will begin at 1:15.

Caribou 3-3 will play host to Ellsworth on Thursday, December 28th at 11:30 AM.
