Bucksport Nips MDI 2-1 [PHOTOS]

On a brutally cold afternoon with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees the Bucksport Golden Bucks nipped the MDI Trojans 2-1 in a pitching duel in Bar Harbor on Friday, April 21st.  The game was scoreless through 6 innings when Bucksport pushed 2 runs across the plate. MDI's rally came up just a bit short in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Lindsey McEachern pitched a complete game for MDI giving up 2 hits, 1 earned run, allowing 1 walk and striking out 8. Katelin Saunders pitched a complete game for Bucksport allowing 5 hits, and 1 earned run, while striking out 5. She didn't allow a walk.

For MDI - Hannah Hanscom led with 1 single and 1 double. Emily York had a double and Maddie Thornton had a single and McEachern had a single.

For Bucksport - Makenzie Smith's double drove in the first run of the game. Maggie Bires had a base hit.

MDI 0-1 on the season is scheduled to play at Foxcroft Academy on Saturday, April 22nd at 12 Noon and then will host Ellsworth on Tuesday, April 25th at 4:30 PM

Bucksport is 2-0 on the season and is scheduled to play host to Dexter at 4:30 PM on Saturday, April 22nd, a change from the originally scheduled time of 11 AM.
