
Bucksport, Narraguagus and Jonesport-Beals High Schools Announce 2022 Principal Award Winners
Bucksport, Narraguagus and Jonesport-Beal High Schools have announced their 2022 Maine Principal Association's Principal Award winners for their respective schools. The award, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
Selected were Emma Howard from Bucksport High School, Joseph Ray-Smith from Narraguagus High School
The individual school winners with their respective principal, along with other award winners and their principals will participate in a Live Virtual Scholarship Drawing Event on Friday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal's Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators.

Emma is one of the top students in her graduating class and is part of the Bridge Academy and the Biomedical program at HCTC. Emma also has taken on a large leadership role in our very successful Robotics Team here at BHS. Emma will be studying either Electrical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Throughout his years at Narraguagus Jr./Sr. High School, Joseph has distinguished himself in the classroom, on the golf course and as a leader in the school and the community. He very much deserves this recognition.
Principal Kelly of Jonesport-Beals High School said
Lauren Beal is an outstanding student at Jonesport-Beals High School and will graduate at the top of the class in June. She is a focused young lady committed to academic achievement and has received several academic awards. She has been her class Vice-President all four years. Lauren is a member of the National Honor Society, and has been on the Honor Roll, achieving High Honors, every quarter since entering J-BHS. As a school leader and student of good character, this year Lauren was awarded the DAR Good Citizen Award. Lauren has been very active in the sports programs and has participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She is very deserving of this honor."
