The Boston Red Sox held the New York Yankees to just 3 hits on Friday night, August 22nd, winning 1-0 in New York.

Brayan Bello was brilliant on the mound, picking up the win. He's now 10-6 on the season. He went 7.0 innings, allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking just 1.

Garrett Whitlock struck out 2 Yankees in the 8th inning, and Aroldis Chapman picked up his 24th save of the season, striking out 2 in the 9th inning.

Connor Wong drove in the lone run of the game, with a RBI double in the 7th inning. He finished 2-4.

Alex Bregman went 3-4 for the Red Sox.

The game was delayed slightly in the 4th inning, when a squirrel ran onto the field.

With the win, Boston leapfrogged over the Yankees into 2nd place in the AL East with a record of 70-59 , while the Yankees are now 69-59. Boston is still 5.0 games back of the Blue Jays in 2nd place. The Red Sox own the top Wild Card Playoff spot.

Boston and New York play the 3rd game of the 4-game series on Saturday afternoon with the pregame starting at 12:05 and 1st pitch at 1:05 on WDEA AM 1370.
