The Boston Red Sox walked-off the Houston Astros 2-1 in 10 innings on Friday, August 1st, at Fenway Park as Roman Anthony hit a walk-off single.

The walk-off was the Red Sox's 9th walk-off win of the season, which leads the AL. 19 games this season have ended in a walk-off, and they are 9-10 in walk-off games.

Anthony finished the night going 2-5. It was his 1st walk-off run batted in. Roman who has been batting leadoff in the last 5 games has reached base safely in 13 of his 25 plate appearance and is 8-20 batting, with a double, triple, and 4 runs batted in. He has walked 3 times and hit by a pitch twice.

Trevor Story was 1-3 with a double. He stole 2nd base in the 8th inning and is 18-18 in stolen base attempts this season.

Wilyer Abreu hit a sacrifice fly in the 7th inning to tie the game at 1-1 and scored the winning run in the 10th inning.

Cooper Criswell started for the Red Sox and was brilliant. He allowed just 1 run, scattering 7 hits in 7 innings. He struck out 4 and walked 2.

Garret Whitlock pitched the 8th striking out 1. Aroldis Chapman pitched the 9th striking out 1 and Greg Weissert picked up the win, pitching the 10th inning. Weissert, now 4-3, retired the side in order in the 10th inning.

Boston is now 60-51, and in 3rd place in the AL East, 4.0 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays who are in 1st place. The Red Sox own the 2nd Wild Card Playoff spot.

Boston and Houston will play the middle game of the 3-game series Saturday afternoon, August 2nd. The pregame begins at 3:10 with the 1st pitch at 4:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
