Red Sox Beat Twins 9-5 as Trevor Story Homers and Drives in 5 Runs [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox picked up a much needed win on Wednesday afternoon, beating the Minnesota Twins 9-5 as Trevor Story homered and drove in 5 runs.

Story hit his 2nd home run, a 3-run shot in the 3rd inning. He also doubled, going 2-4 and drove in 5 runs.

With the off-day on Thursday, Red Sox manager shuffled his lineup to give some of his starters a day off on Wednesday, so they'd have 2 days off before playing again on Friday. Wilyer Abreu, Willson Contreras and Corbin Durbin all had the day off. Their replacements all did well.

Masataka Yoshida, the designated hitter had a double and drove in a run. Andruw Monasterio playing 1st base was 3-5 with a double and drove in a run. Isiah Kiner-Falefa, playing 3rd base was 2-3.

Roman Anthony, leading off was 2-4 and scored twice.

Connolly Early picked up his 1st win, and is 1-0 pitching 6.0 innings and allowing just 2 hits. He struck out 5 and walked 2.

Danny Couloumbe pitched a scoreless 7th inning and Garrett Whitlock a scoreless 8th, striking out 2. Ryan Watson pitched the 9th inning allowing 3 hits and 4 runs.

It was Jackie Robinson Day with everyone wearing number 42 in honor of Robinson.

Boston is now 7-11. They are off on Thursday and open a 7-game homestand Friday night, with 4 games against the Detroit Tigers and 3 games with the New York Yankees. Friday night's pregame starts at 6:15 with the 1st pitch at 7:15 on WDEA AM 1370.
