The Boston Red Sox (5-4-1) will take on the Tampa Bay Rays (4-5-2) on Wednesday, March 5th at 1 p.m. in Spring Training action. The game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370!

Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-4.

Quinn Priester started for the Red Sox and allowed 1 run over 2.2 innings, giving up 4 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 4, throwing 46 pitches, 30 for strikes. Justin Slaten tossed a 1-2-3 inning, needing just 6 pitches.

The Red Sox' bats continue to heat up. Nate Eaton his a grand slam in the 5th inning. Trayce Thompson hit a 2-run home run in the 3rd inning. Abraham Toro hit a 3-run triple in the 2nd inning. Nick Sogard went 2-2 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.

Garrett Crochet will make his 3rd start for the Red Sox. In his previous starts he's struck out 7 over 3.1 scoreless innings. The Red Sox also plan on sending Brennan Bernandino, Greg Weissert, Aroldis Chapman, Liam Hendriks and Justin Wilson to the mound.

Boston will play Toronto on Thursday March 6th with the 1st pitch at 1:07 p.m. Boston opens the regular season in 22 days against the Rangers in Texas on March 27th!
