Boston Red Sox Sweep Detroit Tigers With 4-0 Victory

The Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 4-0 on Wednesday night, May 6th as Sonny Gray returned from the injured list. It was Boston's 1st 3-game series sweep this season!

Gray went 5.0 innings to improve to 3-1. He allowed just 4.0 innings and struck out 2 and walked 2. Tyler Samaniego pitched 2 hitless innings, striking out 3 and walking 1. Zach Kelly pitched the 8th inning, striking out and walking 2 and Greg Weissert closed out the game, pitching the 9th inning.

Masataka Yoshida, starting at designated hitter with Roman Anthony out with a hand injury was 2-4. Caleb Durbin had a double and drove in run. Marcello Mayer and Willson Contreras each had a single, with Contreras driving in a run.

Boston is now 16-21 and Detroit is 18-20.
