The Boston Red Sox are headed to the playoffs for the 1st time since 2021 after Ceddanne Rafaela drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning and Boston beat Detroit 4-3.

It was Boston's major-league-leading 12th walk-off of the season!

Ceddanne Rafaela finished the night 2-4 with a double and the walk-off triple.

Jarren Duran was 1-4 and tied the game with a RBI in the 8th inning.

Masataka Yoshida was 3-4 and drove in a run.

Boston used 7 pitchers. After Kyle Harrison went 3.0 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs, striking out 6, Justin Slaten, Stephen Matz, Greg Weissert, Zach Kelly, Grarret Whitlock and Aroldis Chapman held Detroit scoreless for the last 6 innings, allowing just 3 hits. Chapman got the win, and is 5-3, pitching the 9th inning.

Boston will take on Detroit Saturday afternoon with the pregame starting at 3:10 and 1st pitch at 4:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
