Red Sox Beat Phillies 9-8 in 11 Innings [VIDEO]
The baseball was flying out of the Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia last night, as Boston and the Phillies combined for 6 home runs, with Philly outhomering Boston 4-2. Luckily Boston's homers were a grand slam by Romy Gonzalez in the 5th inning and then a 2-run homer by Carlos Narvaez in the 11th inning, as Boston won 9-8 in 11 innings.
Lucas Giolito allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 4.0 innings, striking out 2 and walking 1. 4 of the 5 hits were home runs, including back-to-back homers to Kyle Schwarber (34th) and Bryce Harper(14th) in the 1st inning.
Trailing 5-0 the Red Sox put up 6 runs in the 5th inning, capped off by Gonzalez's 3-2, 2 out grand slam, his 6th of the season.
Gonzalez shouldn't have even been to the plate, as Jarren Duran popped up behind the plate, but J.T. Realmuto, the Phillies catcher lost the ball in the night sky and the ball landed in foul territory behind the plate. Duran then walked, driving in a run.
Narvaez ended the night, 2-5 with a double to go along with his 9th homer.
Masataka Yoshida had a double. Trevor Story had a double and run batted in, and Roman Anthony, who came in as pinch-hitter was 1-2 with a double.
Greg Weissert picked up the win and is 3-3 while Brennan Bernardino earned his 1st save of the season, striking out the final batter in the 11th inning.

Boston is 55-49 and in 3rd place in the AL East, 6.0 games behind Toronto. They are tied for the 2nd Wild Card Playoff spot.
Boston is off on Thursday, they return home on Friday night for a 3-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The pregame starts at 6:10 with the 1st pitch at 7:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
