The Boston Red Sox were shutout by the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, losing 6-0 as the Cubs blasted 5 solo home runs in the game.

Brayan Bello took the loss. He went 6.0 innings and allowed 6 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 4 and walked 1. He allowed back-to-back homers to Michael Busch and Kyle Tucker to start the game and the Red Sox trailed 2-0 at the end of the 1st inning. Bello's record fell to 6-4 on the season.

Chris Murphy came on in relief, pitching the final 2.0 innings. He allowed 5 hits, and 3 runs, giving up 3 solo home runs, including a pair of back-to-back homers in the 8th inning to Pete Crow-Armstrong (his 26th of the season) and to Ian Happ.

The Cubs outhit the Red Sox 11-6, as Shota Imanaga kept Boston's batters off-balance. He struck out 5 and walked 1 in 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits.

Rob Refsnyder had a double. Masataka Yoshida had a pair of singles, as did Abraham Toro. Ceddanne Rafaela had a single.

Boston has lost 2 games in-a-row after winning 10 straight games before the All-Star Break. They are in 3rd place in the AL East 5.0 games out of 1st place and own the 3rd and final wild card playoff spot.

Boston and Chicago will play the final game of the 3-game series on Sunday afternoon with the Garrett Crochet set to pitch for Boston. The pregame starts at 1:20 with the 1st pitch scheduled for 2:20 on WDEA AM 1370.
