Boston Red Sox Hang on to Beat Royals 6-5 [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox hung on to beat the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on Tuesday, August 6th to move within a half-game of the Wild Card playoff spot.
Dominic Smith scored the game-winner on a wild pitch in the 6th inning with a head-first slide into home plate. He was originally called out, but the play was overruled on replay Smith was 1-3 with a double.
Masataka Yoshida was 2-5 with a solo home run, his 6th of the season, in the 3rd inning. He drove in 3 runs.
David Hamilton had a double and a run batted in.
Brayan Bello started on the mound for the Red Sox and went 4.2 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 3. Brennan Bernadino recorded the last out in the 5th inning, to pick up the win and is 4-3 on the season. In the 8th inning, with the Red Sox leading 6-3, the Royals scored 2 runs. That brought on Kenley Jensen who recorded the final out in the 8th with a strikeout with a runner on 3rd. He then pitched the 9th inning, striking out 2 more batters for his 21st save of the season.
Boston and Kansas City will play the final game of the 3-game series on Wednesday night, with the pregame starting at 7:10 and 1st pitch at 8:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
