Red Sox Fall to Red 3-2 on Sunday [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox fell to the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 on Sunday, wasting a strong start by Connelly Early and Wilyer Abreu's 2nd homer in as many games.

Early, making his 1st start of the 2026 season went 5.1 innings allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run, striking out 6 and walking 2.

Greg Weissert allowing 1 hit, but it was a 2-run homer to Eugenio Suarez in the 6th inning. Weissert took the loss and is 0-1.

Jovani Moran pitched the final 2 innings, holding the Reds to just 1 hit, striking out 2 and walking 1.

Wilyer Abreu hit a 2-run homer in the 4thinning, and had a double. He finished the day 3-4.

Connor Wong starting behind the plate was 2-3 with a double.

Andruw Monasterio had a pinch-hit double. Wilson Contreras was 1-3. Caleb Durbin was hitless and is 0-12 to start the season, playing 3rd base.

Boston is now 1-2 while Cincinnati is 2-1.
