The Boston Red Sox fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 on Friday night, July 25th at Fenway Park.

Brayan Bello started for the Red Sox and went 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 5 and walked 2. He took the loss, and is now 6-5 on the season.

The game was 3-2 until Jorge Alcala allowed a 2-run homer to Teoscar Hernandez in the 8th inning to give the Dodgers 2 insurance runs.

Alex Bregman was 1-4 with  RBI double in the 3rd inning.

Jarren Duran was 1-3 with a RBI single in the 3rd inning.

Boston had just 5 hits in the game, 3 of them doubles, with Connor Wong and Trevor Story doubling.

Prior to the game, the Red Sox put Marcello Mayer on the injured list with a wrist injury, and recalled David Hamilton from Worcester.

The Red Sox have scored 2 or fewer runs in 5 of their last 7 games, and lost all 5 of those games since the All-Star break.

Boston is now 55-50 and in 3rd place in the AL East, 7.5 games behind the 1st place Toronto Blue Jays. They do own the 3rd and final Wild Card Playoff spot.

Boston and Los Angeles will play the middle game of the 3-game series on Saturday night, with the pregame starting at 6:15 p.m. and 1st pitch at 7:15 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
