The Boston Red Sox beat the Washington Nationals 10-3 on Saturday, July 5th. The win was the 10,000th win for the franchise, just the 5th team to eclipse that mark.

Boston wasted no time in scoring, plating 2 runs in the 1st inning and then putting up 7 runs in the 3rd inning.

Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 2-run, 2-out homer in the 3rd inning, his 10th of the season. He finished 2-4 with a double and  3 runs batted in.

Romy Gonzalez was 3-5 with a pair of doubles, driving in 2 runs.

Rob Refsnyder was 1-5 with a double and run batted in.

Roman Anthony was 2-5 with a run batted in.

Jarren Duran was 1-4 with 2 runs batted in, hitting a triple. The triple was his 10th of the season.

After a series of very rough starts, Walker Buehler picked up the win, going 5.0 innings allowing 8 hits and 3 runs, striking out 2. He's now 6-6 on the season

Greg Weissert, (1 inning),  Brennan Bernardino, (2 innings), and Jorge Alcala pitching the 9th inning, combined to allow just 1 hit, striking out 2 and more importantly not allowing a walk.

Boston is now 45-45, 4th in the AL East.  The Red Sox are 2.5 games out of the 3rd wildcard playoff spot.

Boston and Washington will play the final game of the 3-game series on Sunday afternoon. Garrett Crochet takes the mound for the Red Sox. The pregame starts at 12:35 with the 1st pitch at 1:35 on AM 1370 WDEA.
