Boston Hangs On to Defeat Baltimore 4-3 Saturday [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox led the Baltimore Orioles 3-0 through 6 innings on Saturday, and hung on to win 4-3 to keep their wild card dreams alive.
Michael Wacha, making his 2nd start since returning from the Injured List was brilliant again. He went 5.2 innings, allowing just 4 hits. He struck out 4 and walked 1, lowering his ERA to 2.28.
John Schreiber came on in the 5th inning and was the victim of some poor fielding. He allowed 2 hits and 2 runs, although just 1 was earned, in 1.1 innings. He struck out 2.
Garrett Whitlock picked up his 5th save of the season, pitching the 8th and 9th innings, allowing 2 hits and 1 run. He struck out 2.
Kike Hernandez had a 2-run home run in the 6th inning.
Christian Arroyo moved to the leadoff spot was 3-5, with a double, driving in a run.
Alex Verdugo moved to the 2nd spot in the batting order was 2-5 with a run batted in.
JD Martinez was 2-4 with a double.
