Garrett Crochet pitched 7.0 innings, striking out 9 and Rafael Devers was 4-4 with 3 RBIs as the Boston Red Sox beat Kansas City in KC on Saturday, May 10th.

Crochet, struck out 9, and walked just 1, allowing 7 hits and 1 run. He lowered his Earned Run Average to 1.93 and is now 4-2 this season.

Liam Hendriks allowed 2 hits in the 8th inning, striking out 1 and Brennan Bernardino struck out 1 in the 9th to close out the game.

Rafale Devers, a day after the Red Sox ownership flew out to KC to discuss his refusal to play 1st base was 4-4 with a double,  driving in 3 runs.

Trevor Story hit his 6th homer of the season, a 3-run 2-out homer in the 7th inning. He finished 1-5.

Carlos Narvaez, playing catcher was 3-4, hitting his his 4th home run of the season, a 2-run homer in the 8th inning.

Ceddanne Rafaela was 2-5 and hit his 2nd triple of the season.

Alex Bregman and Jarren Duran each were 2-5, with a run batted in.

Every Red Sox batter with the exception of Kristian Campbell and Wilyer Abreu had at least 1 hit, as Boston pounded out 15 hits.

Boston is now 21-20, in 2nd place in the AL East. Boston is 2.0 games behind the 1st place New York Yankees in the AL East. Kansas City is 24-17, having had their 7-game win streak snapped.

Prior to the game the Red Sox placed Romy Gonzalez on the 10-day Injured list retroactive to May 8th with a left quad contusion. The Red Sox recalled Nick Sjogard from Worcester, who started and played 1st base.

Boston and Kansas City will play the final game of the 3-game series on Sunday afternoon. The pregame starts at 1:10 and 1st pitch at 2:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
