Beleaguered Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team Beats Hermon 46-37 [STATS]

You could be excused if you saw the Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team holding a smudge in the girl's locker room in an attempt to rid the team of the injury bug. Just as the Eagles received a bit of good news in Lily Bean's return to practice with a knee brace, they have lost Elizabeth Boles to a leg injury for a short period of time.

The undermanned Ellsworth Girls played inspired basketball on Wednesday night, beating the Hermon Hawks 46-37 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on January 15th.

Ellsworth took full advantage of Hermon's foul difficulty going 14-22 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth led 15-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 28-17 at the end of the 1st Half. The Eagles led 34-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Ellsworth was led by Kaylee Bagley with 17 points, going 7-9 from the free throw line. Austyn Atherton had 10 points with a 3-pointer. Violette Ray had 9 points, with a 3-pointer and going 4-6 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Brooke Gallop with 12 points and 2 3-pointers. Madilynn Tracy had 8 points, with a 3-pointer. The Hawks were 4-12 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 8-3 They will play John Bapst at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday, January 17th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Hermon is now 5-6. They will travel up to Aroostook County to play the Caribou Vikings on Saturday, January 18th at 3 p.m.
