Basketball and Cheering Revived at Sumner Memorial High School

On Tuesday, December 22nd the student athletes at Sumner Memorial High School were given a early Christmas present when the RSU 24 Board of Directors reversed their earlier decision and voted 7-1 to allow the basketball and cheering teams to compete this winter.

The only negative vote was from Alison Johnson from Gouldsboro. Andrea St. George Jones from Sullivan was absent.

On December 1st the RSU 24 had voted 6-3 to not allow winter sports. They also cancelled fall sports.

RSU 24 was the only school to cancel winter sports in Hancock County. Bucksport, MDI, Ellsworth and Deer Isle Stonington have voted to allow Winter sports. GSA has yet to vote.
