The Barn Arts Collective and Acadia Community Theater present "The Tempest" this coming weekend July 29th and 30th at 4 PM at the Salt Air Inn, 121 West Street in Bar Harbor.

Imagine yourself shipwrecked on Mount Desert Island (MDI) in the 1920’s with your young daughter. Your jealous sister has betrayed you and forced you to leave your home, but a friend stocked your ship with supplies, including magic books. When you wash ashore and wander through Bar Harbor, you run into a spirit imprisoned in a tree, and she pledges her loyalty if you will set her free. You also adopt and raise an orphan who teaches you how to live on MDI, but who also feels enslaved. After surviving for twelve years in Bar Harbor, you hear that your sister will be sailing by in Frenchman Bay, and you use magic to get revenge by stirring up a big storm causing everyone on board her boat to think they are shipwrecked in Bar Harbor, too. Mayhem ensues as your adopted son joins two guys on the boat to try to overthrow you, you scheme to have your daughter fall in love with another of the shipwrecked men so that you can use him as a spy, and your sister and her allies conspire to kill the king who was also onboard the ship. Will these plots work? Will you ever forgive your sister for her betrayal? Will the spirit ever be freed from the tree? Will you ever get off of MDI?

This is an outdoor performance, so bring a folding chair or blanket to sit on. Tickets are $10.00 for adults, and $5.00 for children 12 and under and for seniors. Beverages will be available by donation.
