At the August 3rd Bar Harbor Town Council meeting, Town Manager Cornell Knight announced that he would be retiring and that he would be stepping down as Town Manager in January, 2022.

The Council accepted his resignation 6-0. Knight has been a Town Manager for 40 years, and been Bar Harbor's since November of 2014. Prior to coming to Bar Harbor, he was the Town Manager in Topsham.

On Tuesday, August 17th, the Bar Harbor Town Council will begin the process of selecting a new Town Manager. At that time they will either contract with the Maine Municipal Association or Eaton Peabody. Maine Municipal Association's proposal was for $6400 which includes most fees (postage, copying, phone) while Eaton Peabody's proposal is for $6000 which does not includes most fees as outline by the Maine Municipal Association's proposal
