Get Involved: Decorating Bar Harbor For Christmas Festivities

There is a lot to do to decorate Bar Harbor in all it's finest for the Holidays and the staff of 3 at the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce need a little elfin magic to pull it off and also help with the Village Holidays on December 5th.

There's nothing like seeing Christmas thru the eyes of a child or children and you can do that by volunteering on December 5th when Santa comes to town and the children visit with Santa.

And to be able to drive around town and know that you helped decorate the tree at the Village Green, or in Agamont Park, or help with the Buoy Tree will give you a special feeling of pride!

🎄 Decorating the Buoy Tree

Volunteers will assist in assembling, arranging, and decorating the buoy tree with festive lights, painted buoys, and seasonal accents. This is a hands-on, team-oriented role perfect for anyone who enjoys creative outdoor decorating.

✨ Decorating Agamont Park’s Tree of Lights

Join us as we transform the Agamont Park tree into a glowing holiday centerpiece. Volunteers will hang lights, help check strands and make sure everything shines beautifully for opening night!

🍬 Decorating DeGregoire Park (Lights, Candy Canes & More)

Help create a cheerful, family-friendly holiday display in DeGregoire Park! Tasks include placing string lights, setting up oversized candy canes, hanging small wreaths, and decorating the fountain cover. This role is fun, creative, and perfect for volunteers who enjoy festive holiday decorations!

🎁 Decorating the Village Green Tree & Pavilion

Support the decorating team as we light up the Village Green for the season! Volunteers will help string lights on the main tree, decorate the pavilion, add bows and garland, and ensure the space feels warm and festive. Ideal for volunteers who love classic holiday décor.

☕ Hot Cocoa Station Helper (Village Green) (Dec.5th)

Help spread some cozy holiday cheer by serving hot cocoa to families waiting for Santa’s arrival! Volunteers will assist with setting up the beverage table, keeping cocoa and cups stocked, handing out treats, and making sure everyone stays warm and welcomed. This is a great role for anyone who loves greeting people with a smile and being part of the festive atmosphere.

📸 Santa Photo Booth Helper (MDI YMCA) (Dec.5th)

Bring the magic to life at our Santa Photo Station! Volunteers will help set up & breakdown a cheerful holiday backdrop (provided by the Chamber), manage the line as families wait for their photo op, and assist with taking pictures using parents’ phones or cameras if needed. You’ll help keep things running smoothly so every child gets their special moment with Santa. This is perfect for volunteers who enjoy working photography and working with families!
