Back in 1st Place Red Sox Pound Yankees 11-0 Saturday Night
Saturday night June 30th was an awesome night if you are a Boston Red Sox fan! The Red Sox pounded the New York Yankees 11-0 to regain 1st place, behind an absolutely dominating performance by Chris Sale and a terrific night at the plate by Rafael Devers.
Sale was at his best Saturday, throwing 7 innings and allowing the Yankees just 1 hit. He retired his last 15 batters he faced in a row. He had 11 strikeouts and just 1 walk. 72 of Chris Sale's 101 pitches were strikes on the night. He's now 8-4 on the season.
Devers was 5-5 at the plate with a grand slam in the 1st inning to give the Red Sox a lead they never would relinquish. He was just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
JD Martinez had 3 more RBIs on the night going 3-4 and now has a major league leading 67 RBIs.
All together the Red Sox batters had 17 hits on the night. Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts and Sandy Leon each had 2 hits. Betts had a double and Leon a 2 run homer.
The Red Sox and Yankees will conclude their 3 game series Sunday night with David Price (9-5) scheduled to pitch for Boston against Luis Severino (12-2). The pregame begins at 7:20 and 1st pitch at 8:05 on AM 1370 WDEA.
