August 6th – National Root Beer Float Day

Friday August 6th is a great day... It's National Root Beer Float Day.. a day to pour  your favorite root beer over a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Also known as Black Cows, the root beer float was invented by Frank Wisner towards the end of the 19th century

Feeling adventurous and over 21? You can make an adult float by adding your favorite beer to vanilla ice cream. Below is a dark stout with ice cream

When my son played travel hockey, we would go into Canada and one of the first stops was the A&W Root Beer Store in St. Stephen. There the root beer comes right out  of the tap and was delicious!
