A Learning Trip to the County For the Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team
The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team lost to Presque Isle on Wednesday, December 27th 72-50 and then 56-43 to the Caribou Vikings on Thursday, December 28th as they traveled up to Aroostook County.On Thursday, the Eagles and Vikings were tied at 17-17 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Katelynn Bagley had 6 points, Hannah Sargent had 5 points with a 3-pointer, and Kylie Duhaime, Kylie Robidoux and Trinity Montigny each had 2 points for Ellsworth . For Caribou, Taylor Labreck had 10 points, Searra Herbert had 3 points and Alexis Rodriguez and Gabrielle Marquis had 2 points.
Caribou outscored Ellsworth 16-10 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 33-27 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Paige Espling had 6 points for Caribou while Herbert had 4 points, and Marquis, Rodriguez and Kimmy Susi had 2 points each. For Ellsworth Sara Shea had 3 points, Montigny had 3 points, Sargent had 2 points and Robidoux 1 point.
In the 3rd Quarter, Caribou outscored Ellsworth 10-8 to increase their lead to 8 43-35. Labreck had 4 points for Caribou, Marquis a 3-pointer, Rodriguez 2 points and Herbert 1 point. For Ellsworth Montigny had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Hannah Sargent went 3-4 from the free throw line.
The Vikings outscored the Eagles 13-8 in the final quarter to take the game 56-43. Herbert had 7 points, with a 3-pointer, Labreck had 4 points and Marquis 2 points for the Vikings. For Ellsworth Samantha Carter and Sara Shea each had a 3-pointr and Robidoux added 2 points.
Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny and Hannah Sargent with 10 points each. The Eagles were 7-11 from the free throw line.
Caribou was led by Taylor Labreck with a game high 18 points while Searra Herbert had 15 points. The Vikings were 12-18 from the free throw line.

On Wednesday, Presque Isle was deadly from beyond the 3-point arc, sinking 14 3-pointers. The game was close after the 1st Quarter with Presque Isle leading 13-10 and even after the end of the 1st Half 31-21. But in the 3rd Quarter Presque Isle scored 17 points while Ellsworth only managed 8 points to put the Wildcats up 48-29. In the 3rd Quarter Presque Isle scored 6 baskets, with 5 of them being 3-pointers.
Ellsworth was led by Katelynn Bagley with 20 points while Hannah Sargent had 11 points and Trinity Montigny having 10 points. Sargent had 3 3-pointers for Ellsworth. The Eagles were 5-13 from the free throw line.
Presque Isle was led by Emily Wheaton with a game high 26 points. Wheaton had 5 3-pointers, Maggie Castonguary 3 3-pointers, Maddi Jandreau and Chrissy Skidgel each had 2 3-pointers and Maddi Michaud, and Sidney Thompson each had 1 3-pointer.
