#6 MDI Girls Advance to Quarterfinals Beating #11 Houlton 52-29 [STATS/PHOTOS]

The #6 MDI Girls Basketball Team advanced to the Quarterfinals at the Cross Insurance Center, beating #11 Houlton 52-29 on the Jamie Gonzales Court at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Tuesday, February 13th.

After a very slow start to the game (the 1st basket wasn't scored until 2:51 was gone), MDI led 11-4 at the end of the 1st Quarter. The Trojans led 23-10 at the end of the 1st Half.

Then in the 3rd Quarter, Lexi Tozier dominated in the paint for the Trojans, scoring 16 points, as MDI expanded their lead to 45-20.

Tozier finished with a season-high 27 points to lead all scorers, and didn't score in the final Quarter as MDI emptied their bench.

Alexsandra Hanley had 7 points for MDI including a 3-pointer. Mia Shaw finished with 6 points. Emma Simard had a 3-pointer for MDI. The Trojans were 6-8 from the free throw line.

Houlton was led by Kaitlyn Kenney and Amelia Callnan each of who had 8 points. Camille Callnan had a 3-pointer for the Shiretowners. Houlton was 2-2 from the free throw line.

Houlton's season comes to an end with a 7-12 record.

MDI, now 13-6 advances to play #3 Maranacook, 13-5, in the Class B North Quarterfinals at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday, February 16th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
