You were the envy of every kid across the country because you got out of school to pick potatoes at 50 cents a barrel. Or so they thought. Did anyone buy their first truck picking potatoes? I didn't think so.

Your friend dated them in grade school, then you dated them in junior high and now your other friend is dating them in high school. In a smaller town, this is bound to happen at one time or another. Thankfully, some have remained high school sweethearts to this day!

You know the deal all too well. If the teacher your older sibling had loved them, because they were a straight A student, then they hold you to the same standard. If they gave the teacher the business all the time, then there is probably some kind of a hate toward you too. A no-win situation.

Things like: Who could lay a 40-foot patch of rubber, or who had the best paint job and who's truck was the fastest were controversial issues back in the day. Guys and gals all took pride in their ride and would do their best to show why theirs was the best!
