#4 MDI Falls to #1 Caribou 53-41 [STATS/PHOTOS]

The #4 MDI Boys Basketball Team fell to the #1 Caribou Vikings 53-41 in the final Class B Boy's Semifinal on Wednesday night, in a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate.

Caribou led 11-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 26-20 at the end of the 1st Half. The Trojans came out firing in the 3rd Quarter sinking 3 straight 3-pointers and to take the lead, before Caribou led 36-34 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. The game was close through midway in the 4th Quarter before Caribou pulled away for the win.

Caribou was led by Kaymen Sargent with 16 points. Landen Belanger had 12 points with 2 3-pointers and Tristan Robbins had 12 points. Brayden Brescia hit a 3-pointer. Caribou was 8-11 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by James Witham with 13 points including a 3-pointer. Lincoln Gray had 10 points with 2 3-pointers. Dylan Stoll had 2 3-pointers and Cal Hodgdon and Preston Tripp each drained a 3-pointer. MDI was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.

Caribou the #1 seed advances and will play #3 Orono, the 2-time defending Class B State Champion in the Northern Maine Regional Final on Friday night, February 21st at 7:45 p.m.
