I love this story out of the Cave Hill School in Eastbrook, and thank Lisa Skiff for sharing this with me, so I in turn can share it with you!

Back in January, a Surry family lost everything in a fire. The family had ties to Downeast Maine, and the 3rd graders at the Cave Hill School in Eastbrook in conjunction with the whole school did a community service project and schoolwide coin drive. The students made posters and promoted the drive. The students then cashed in the coins and went to Hannaford to purchase the gift card and took a field trip to Surry Elementary to deliver the card to Mrs. Dunbar, the principal at Surry Elementary School.

The 3rd Grade Class is referred to as the Moose Creek Bears. I was confused as to the origin of this name. Lisa explained to me

Each year, each class at the Cave Hill School makes up their own name for the years. So for instance, instead of being called down for buses as the 3rd Graders, they're called down as the Moose Creek Bears, and gives them a little personalized identity that they develop on their own. This year many of them spent time at Moose Creek in Greenville

We are so lucky that this next generation is learning compassion and giving. It just goes to reinforce what I have always said about Mainers...Mainers take care of Mainers and those they love. They really are the most generous people!
