#3 Ellsworth Softball Downs #6 MDI 9-7 [PHOTOS]

The #3 Ellsworth Eagles Softball Team beat #6 MDI 9-7 at Ellsworth High School on Wednesday afternoon, June 5th.

MDI only had 3 hits, but they took advantage of 6 Eagle's errors, and 8 walks to score their 7 runs.

Allibeth Horner and Lexi Tozier each had a double for MDI while Taylor Grant had a single.

Grant allowed 11 hits, and 9 runs, with 5 of those being earned. The MDI senior struck out 4 and walked 2 pitching a complete game.

Anna Stevens started in the circle for Ellsworth. She pitched 4.0 innings allowing 1 hit and 4 runs, all unearned. She struck out 1 and walked 6. Cam Clough came on in relief, pitching the final 3 innings allowing 2 hits and 3 runs. She struck out 4 and walked 2.

Clough was 3-4 at the plate, driving in 2 runs. Sophia Lynch was 2-4, with a double, driving in 3 runs. Brooklynn Carter and Natalie Jagels each had 2 hits. Paige Johnson and Aaliyah Manning each singled.

MDI's season comes to a close with a 7-10 record.

Ellsworth now 14-3 will take on the winner of the #2 Old Town - #10 Lawrence quarterfinal.
