We want to give a shout-out to Ellsworth High School cheerleaders Olivia Leighton, Molly Smith, and Grace Robinson who assisted a gentleman in distress on Friday night, January 31 at Walmart.

Although we don't have all the details, we are told that a man fell, hit his head, and stopped breathing. With the skills that Olivia, (a senior)  and Molly ( a junior) learned at Hancock County Technical Center, they quickly worked to stabilize him, while Grace (a sophomore) called 911.

The girls stayed and helped manage the scene, along with an anonymous nurse from MDI Hospital, until the ambulance arrived.

We spoke with the dispatch center and were told the man was transported to the hospital.

All too often we hear bad news. It's nice to be able to publish some good news and highlight the accomplishments of our future leaders.

Well done Olivia, Molly, and Grace! And thanks to the anonymous MDI Hospital nurse. Good luck today to all the Ellsworth cheerleaders as they compete at the Regional Championships in Bangor!
