
17 Cadets from 11 Agencies to Graduate from Hancock County Fire Academy on Sunday
Congratulations to the 17 Cadets representing 11 agencies who will graduate from the Hancock County Fire Academy on Sunday, May 18th. Graduation will take place at The Grand on Sunday, May 18th at 2 p.m.
These cadets have been training since January 4, training on Saturday and Sunday for 10 weekends thru May 4th.
Some of the important lessons the cadets learned were
- Ladder rescues, roof ladder deployment, and hose loads. Training covered essential hose configurations, including the Minute Man, Triple Layer, Flat Load, and large diameter hose setups.
- Ladder carries ,Ladder throws, Working from a ladder, Tool hoisting, Knots, SCBA Maze, Advanced Search and Rescue, Salvage Cover Folds and Deployment, Water Removal, RIC pack, Downed Firefighter CPR
- Basics of chemical properties, Characteristics of various substances found in our local area, Comprehensive review of the Emergency Response Guide (ERG),. Donning different levels of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), Response principles and techniques for handling chemical and biological hazards
