Go figure. The Red Sox had got pounded by the White Sox for three straight nights. It was knuckleballer Steven Wright against all star Chris Sale. A fourth loss seemed inevitable.

But then Wright went out and pitched seven great innings, out dueling Sale and the Red Sox win the game 8-2.

Wright gave up just two runs, he struck out eight and walked two while giving up six hits.

On the offensive side, David Ortiz and Xander Bogaerts each had three hits.

Rusney Castillo ripped a home run.

It was just the third win for the Sox in their last 16 games.

Prior to the game the Red Sox made a series of roster moves. They recalled right handed pitcher Jean Machi and designated for assignment outfielder Daniel Nava. They optioned pitcher Tommy Layne to Pawtucket and recalled right handed pitcher Jonathan Aro.

Tampa Bay comes to Fenway Park next for a three game series starting tonight with the pregame starting at 6:25 and first pitch at 7:10 on AM !370 WDEA.
