The Boston Red Sox lost to the Baltimore Orioles 2-0 on Friday, April 21st but the worst  loss may have occurred when Dustin Pedroia was taken out at 2nd by Manny Machado and limped off the field after getting spiked in his surgically repaired knee in the 8th inning.

The Red Sox managed only 6 hits Friday night and left 6 runners on base including the bases loaded in the 8th inning. Only Marco Hernandez had more than 1 hit for the Red Sox, he had 2.

Drew Pomeranz took the loss for the Red Sox going 5.1 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, both earned while striking out 4 and walking 2.

Boston is now 10-7 while Baltimore is 11-4. The Red Sox are 2 games behind the 1st place Orioles. Boston and Baltimore play the 2nd game of the 3 game series Saturday night with the pregame starting at 6:20 and 1st pitch at 7:05 on AM 1370 WDEA.
